Voicing the piano

If the regulation is done by tightening the screws or replacing the washers and it has a strictly mechanical role, voicing is a combination of adjustments and alterations of materials or components, performed in order to obtain a higher sound quality.

Usually, voicing is done in the factory and it depends heavily on the instrument’s brand, sounding board, strings’ quality, the felt from the hammer, or the mechanism that actions the hammerheads and the pedals. As connoisseurs of this instrument, and having extensive experience in piano tuning and restoring, we can recommend components that make the difference in getting the desired timbre and nuances.
